Nine-time ASP World Champion Kelly Slater, 38, detonated an absolutely amazing display of surfing in his Final battle against reigning two-time ASP World Champion Mick Fanning, 28, despite a severe foot injury sustained during the event to take out his fourth career Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach title, marking the iconic veteran’s 42nd career win. Slater is currently sitting in the ASP World No. 2 position and is in well within the hunt for his unprecedented 10th ASP World Title.

The globe’s finest female surfing talent has completed Round 1 of stop No. 3 on the ASP Women’s World Tour, the inaugural TSB Bank Surfing Festival at Surf Highway 45, and has seen the youngsters step up their game to start strong while the Kiwis host their first ever ASP World Tour event. Reigning three-time ASP Women’s World Champion Steph Gilmore, 22, continued her tear with another heat win, but she’ll have to stay on top of her game to continue to top the flurry of hungry-up-and comers looking to post breakthrough performances in New Zealand.

The ASP 6-Star O’Neill Cold Water Classic is continuing their global trip of exotic-yet-frigid surf destinations this week when the world’s hungriest up-and-comers make their pilgrimage to tame the epic waves of Thurso, Scotland to grab the valuable ratings points on offer towards a spot on the ASP World Tour. In addition to the event’s solid prize purse and ratings points, competitors are also battling for the additional $50,000 prize purse put up by O’Neill for the winner of their 2010 Cold Water Series.
