Brazilian Willian Cardoso (BRA), 26, won the men’s ASP 6-Star Coca Cola Saquarema Pro in his native land over ASP Dream Tour rookie Marco Polo (BRA), 28, in pumping surf to tack 3,000 points into his score line and catapult the talented natural-footer to No. 32 on the ASP One World Rating. With the ASP 6-Star Maresia Surf International unfolding at Praia Mole in Florianopolous this week, Cardoso will look to continue to climb the ratings towards qualification for the ASP Dream Tour in 2011.

Gilmore Clinches ASP 6-Star Swatch Girls Pro
Reigning three-time ASP Women’s World Champion Stephanie Gilmore (AUS), 22, continued her dominance on the world of women’s professional surfing by taking out the ASP 6-Star Swatch Girls Pro in Seignosse, France over some of the globe’s biggest competitive female talent. With a mind blowing start towards her quest for a fourth consecutive ASP Women’s World Title, it seems that the Aussie icon’s legacy is still on the rise. After an astonishing three event wins on the ASP Women’s World Tour this year, the young champ has now won four out of the five events she’s entered this season.

Cathels and Mason Rip Raglan
Aussie up-and-comer Davey Cathels (AUS), 19, clinched the ASP Grade-4 Billabong Pro Junior Raglan in an impressive come-from-behind victory to push the young talent up to No. 2 on the ASP Australasia Pro Junior Series, substantially helping his chances of qualification for the ASP World Junior Tour. Sarah Mason (NZL), 15, who proved to be a lethal wildcard at the TSB Bank Women’s Surf Festival, also posted a huge win when she overtook older sister Arini Mason (NLZ), 20, in the Billabong Pro Junior Final to win the women’s division.
