Nine-time ASP World Champion Kelly Slater (USA), 38, clinched his second elite ASP Dream Tour victory of the 2010 season, snatching the Hurley Pro at Trestles in flawless Lowers conditions over Bede Durbidge (AUS), 27, to overtake Jordy Smith (ZAF), 22, for the ASP World Title race ratings lead. The emphatic victory earned by the Floridian natural-footer moves Slater one step closer to his unprecedented 10th ASP World Title.

Alves Wins Back-to-Back ASP 6-Stars
Fiery Brazilian Heitor Alves (BRA), 27, continued his form after his victory at the ASP 6-Star San Miguel Pro in the Basque country, immediately clinching the ASP 6-Star Lusiaves Figueira Pro in Figueira da Foz, Portugal the following week over Aussie Yadin Nicol (AUS), 24. The impressive back-to-back wins earned by Alves catapulted the quick goofy-footer to an astonishing No. 19 on the ASP World Ranking, making Alves the highest rated competitor not among the ASP Top 34.

Geiselman and Andino’s Wave Pool Training by Surfline
2010 ASP North America Pro Junior Series Champion Evan Geiselman (New Smyrna Beach, FL), 17, and Kolohe Andino (San Clemente, CA), 16, recent wildcard at the Hurley Pro at Trestles, just hit Florida’s Typhoon Lagoon wave pool prior to their maiden voyages to the ASP World Junior Tour for some unique cross training. Alongside South American goofy-footer Cristobal de Col (Lima, PER), 17, the progressive talents went from training sessions on the trampoline and straight into the chlorine to put their new ideas to the test in an East Coast wave pool and Surfline.com was there to document the action.
