Florence Wins Billabong Rio Pro
ASP World Championship Tour Rookie John John Florence has taken out the Billabong Rio Pro, his first elite ASP WCT victory. Florence proved to be the most versatile surfer at the powerful beachie of Barra da Tijuca, showing the world that he was equally adept in the barrel as he was in the air. From technical tubes to monster backhand rotators, Florence marched past the ASP Top 34 to eventually top Joel Parkinson for his first major win. Parko’s runner up finish now marks him as the frontrunner for the ASP World Title.
