Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast!
The 2011 ASP World Tour is set to open the gates for the Top 34 to unleash their ASP World Title campaigns at Snapper Rocks at the Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast presented by Land Rover, which hosts a waiting period from February 26 through March 9, 2011. With now 10-time ASP World Champion Kelly Slater (USA), 39, defending event champion Taj Burrow (AUS), 32 and a handful of hot new rookies in the draw, this year’s Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast has all the ingredients to be epic!

ASP World Surfing Awards
The ASP World Surfing Awards is set to commence this Thursday, February 24, 2011 at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre. Surfing’s “night of nights”, the ASP World Surfing Awards, is a gala event, hosting the world’s best surfers as well as distinguished figures from the surfing industry in honor of the 2010 ASP World Champions. In addition to the recognition of each ASP World Champion from last year, several additional awards are handed out including ‘2010 ASP World Tour Breakthrough Performer’ as well as the “Peter Whittaker Award’ which recognizes a surfers’ service to the sport.

Watch the Roxy Pro!
The Roxy Pro Gold Coast presented by Land Rover, the first event on the 2011 ASP Women’s World Tour, is set to unfold in conjunction with the Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast later this week. Four-time ASP Women’s World Champion and Gold Coast queen Steph Gilmore (AUS), 22, will be on the hunt for yet another Roxy Pro title on her home turf while the impressive list that makes up the rookie class will be out to prove their worth among the world’s finest female surfers.

Muniz Wins Hang Loose Pro
2011 ASP Dream Tour Rookie Alejo Muniz just snatched the first ASP PRIME contest of the 2011 season, the Hang Loose Pro at Fernando de Noronha in Brazil over Australian Dion Atkinson, sliding Muniz up to No. 28 on the ASP World Ranking to give the young Brazilian an excellent jump-start to his rookie season amongst the elite before the first event on the ASP Dream Tour calendar even unfolded.

Burrow Takes Breaka
Current ASP World No. 3 Taj Burrow just snagged his second consecutive ASP 4-Star Breaka Burleigh Pro Title, marching past the horde of his fellow ASP World Tour campaigners to win the event at Burleigh Heads to use the event as an ideal warm-up for the upcoming Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast. Last year the West Oz native went on to take the Quiksilver Pro following his win at Burleigh, can he repeat at Snapper again this year?
