Slater and Burrow Join Forces in Sydney
Kelly Slater, reigning 10-time ASP World Champion and leader in the hunt for the 2011 ASP World Title, and Taj Burrow, prodigal son of the progressive surf movement and current ASP World No. 2, may not seem like likely bedfellows. However, reports to the contrary have been pouring in over the past week. Slater allegedly was towed into a few Cape Solander bombs by Mr. Burrow, and the two reportedly enjoyed a quiet dinner with one another before pulling into solid Tamarama (see photo) in the morning. STAB magazine was on hand to get the scoop.

Wilson recently decided to hang out in Southern California and went on a jaunt down to the Transworld SURF headquarters to talk about his performance at the Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast, the upcoming Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach and what life is like as a rookie on the ASP World Tour.

Julian Does it in the Rain
2011 ASP Dream Tour rookie Julian Wilson didn’t have the easiest start this season. Last year, we saw a heroic 11th hour effort in Hawaii to make the elite ASP Top 34. However, 11th hour efforts are exciting one season and challenging the next. Coming into 2011 as one of the lower seeds amongst the world’s best means that Wilson draws the ASP’s heavy hitters early on in competition. Case in point, his Round 3 shootout with Taj Burrow (AUS), 32, at the Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast. Despite a valiant effort, TB got the better of him and Wilson will look to make up ground in the coming events. Wilson recently posted a video of some rainy days at home, board testing and breaking boundaries.
