Nike US Open Time!
The time has come upon us for the marathon, monster of a surf contest that is the 2011 Nike US Open of Surfing! With more divisions than you can shake a stick at, it seems that every elite surfer from across the globe has flocked to Huntington Beach, California for their piece of the pie. The 2011 edition hosts an ASP PRIME event, the final stop on the ASP Women’s World Title Series and men’s and women’s ASP Pro Junior Series contests so tune in to the festival and watch generations of surfing talent compete!

Webster and Buchanan Win the Masters
After a week of battling it out at the lefthand pointbreak of Arpoador the ASP crowned Masters champions for the first time in eight years! The 2011 SuperSurf ASP World Masters Championships saw surfing’s most iconic representatives battle it out in a unique format and eventually it was Nathan ‘Noodles’ Webster who clinched the ASP World Masters Crown while Kiwi surfer Iain ‘Ratso’ Buchanan took the ASP Grand Masters title.

Jack Freestone, Welcome to the Big Leauges
Jack Freestone is the Gold Coast kid taking on the world’s best in the ASP World Tour’s Prime rated events. After claiming the ASP World Junior Crown in January, he was awarded a seed into all the ASP Prime events. However, Freestone is yet to find form and make his mark in the big leagues. Not one to let his loses get him down, Freestone has a firm family and friends base on the Gold Coast who help recharge the positive/competitive energy between events.

Jabour Wins Quiksilver Pro Puerto Escondido
Hawaiian talent Kiron Jabour took out an amazing win in absolutely firing six-to-10 foot barrels in an all-Hawaiian final to win the Quiksilver Pro Puerto Escondido, marking his first major ASP victory. Jabour’s win came after a week of waves at the Mexican Pipeline delivered everything from nearly-flat lay days, to rippable three-foot peaks, to the eventual iconic barrels that saw Jabour put on a barrel-riding clinic in critical conditions.

With less than six weeks to commencement, preparation for the upcoming $1million Quiksilver Pro New York supported by vitaminwater, September 1-15, is hitting fever pitch. The Quiksilver Pro New York supported by vitaminwater is the richest surfing competition to be staged anywhere in the world in the sport’s 36-year professional history, and will feature the world’s Top 34-ranked athletes plus two wildcards.
