Wright Wins Quiksilver Pro ASP Dream Tour Sophomore Owen Wright has won the Quiksilver Pro New York, dismantling the high-performance beachbreak at Long Beach on Long Island to take out Kelly Slater. The talented Aussie not only won the historic $US300,000 prize at his first career ASP World Title event victory but also slid to No. 2 on the ASP World Title Rankings at the sixth of 11 stops this year! FULL REPORT: New ASP Top 34 Finalized With the completion of the Quiksilver Pro New York, the first half of the 2011 ASP World Tour has come to an end and the midyear rotation has been activated. The new ASP Top 34 will now be comprised of the current top 32 surfers on the ASP World Rankings as well as two surfer wildcards. Nicol Injured, Florence Moves to ASP Top 34 Yadin Nicol has relinquished his spot on the new ASP Top 34 (having qualified for the September rotation), citing a broken right fibula sustained in Japan while free-surfing in late August. With Nicol’s relinquishment of his spot for the back half of the year, John John Florence will move into the elite ASP Top 34. Florence will make his ASP Dream Tour debut at the Hurley Pro Trestles.
