Slater Wins Rip Curl Pro!
Nine-time ASP World Champion and current ASP World No. 1 Kelly Slater (USA), 38, stormed to yet another contest win to claim stop No. 8 on the ASP World Tour, the Rip Curl Pro Portugal over progressive youngster Jordy Smith (ZAF), 22, after a week of competition that saw everything from flawless barrels to tricky onshores. The impressive win launched the Floridian icon into a commanding lead for this year’s ASP World Title race, moving Slater that much closer towards an unprecedented 10th ASP World title.

O’Neill CWC Hits Steamer Lane
The fifth and final stop on the O’Neill Cold Water Classic series is LIVE this week from the famous pointbreak of Steamer Lane in Santa Cruz, California and the event’s ASP PRIME status has drawn some of surfing’s biggest names including current ASP World No. 2 Jordy Smith (ZAF), 22, to the chilly California waters in search of the valuable ratings points towards their ASP World Ranking in addition to the $50,000 bonus for the winner of this year’s O’Neill Cold Water Classic Series.

Kerr Takes O’Neill CWC Canada
Inventive aerialist Josh Kerr (AUS), 26, current No. 33 on the ASP World Ranking, snagged his second major ASP victory last week, taking out the ASP 6-Star O’Neill Cold Water Classic Canada over progressive mastermind Eric Geiselman (USA), 22, to push the crafty Australian one step closer towards a return amongst the ASP World Tour for 2011. With several crucial events remaining on the 2010 calendar to decide next year’s elite, can Kersey man another comeback in the back half of the season?

Aranburu Wins in Brazil
Former ASP World Tour competitor Aritz Aranburu (EUK), 25, just took a crucial win at the ASP 6-Star Supersurf Internacional, marking the talented natural-footer’s second Brazilian ASP 6-Star victory this year! The massive win moves the Basque talent to No. 34 on the ASP World Ranking, substantially helping his chances at finding his way amongst the world’s best for 2011. Aranburu will look to take the momentum from his victory to America, where he’s slated to take to the water at the ASP PRIME O’Neill Cold Water Classic California.
