The surfing world quietly anticipated Joel Parkinson’s return to a singlet, wondering how he’d go in his first event after his horrific foot injury. Well, Parko showed everyone that he was feeling just fine by dismantling his very first wave of Reef Hawaiian Pro competition to the tune of a perfect 10, the only flawless ride in the event, setting the pace for an impressive campaign that lead him to victory at the ASP PRIME event and a dream start to defending his Vans Triple Crown title.

Freshly crowned four-time ASP Women’s World Champion Stephanie Gilmore (AUS), 22, tacked on another win to her nearly-flawless 2010 season by clinching the ASP 6-Star Cholo’s Hawaiian Pro, securing the first jewel of the Vans Triple Crown to set her up as the frontrunner in the prestigious series in her quest for a third consecutive Vans Triple Crown title. The second Jewel of the Vans Triple Crown is gearing up for getting down and with a fresh swell looming on the horizon, O’Neill World Cup of Surfing action could begin at Sunset Beach as soon as Wednesday. The event marks the final men’s ASP PRIME contest of the year so the boys will be putting it all on the line for a spot among the elite while the Top 17 women in the world will be battling for this year’s Vans Triple Crown title and requalification for the ASP Women’s World Tour at one of the tour’s most challenging waves.  You won’t want to miss this showdown.

Quiksilver Announces Invitees for the Eddie
The Quiksilver in Memory of Eddie Aikau fueled by Monster Energy has announced the 28 invitees and 24 alternates selected for the event which is slated to run at the world famous Waimea Bay in a one day event from December 1 through February 1 if the pacific gets ferocious enough to deliver waves in the minimum of 20ft range to Oahu’s North Shore. Last year saw Californian big-wave standout Greg Long take out the prestigious event and with icons from Kelly Slater to Shane Dorian to Michael Ho, this year’s Eddie will be nothing short of amazing should the event run!

A Day on the Rock with Alejo Muniz
Alejo Muniz (BRA), 20, is one of South America’s most promising talents. The hard-working Brazilian has posted several impressive results, placing Muniz at No. 29 on the ASP World Ranking and in excellent position to qualify for the 2011 ASP World Tour. While maintaining his status as one of the most consistent surfers on the ASP PRIME series this year, Muniz has displayed his small-wave prowess with impressive above the lip surfing and his 2009 Vans Triple Crown Rookie of the year award last year shows he’s not scared to charge either.
