With Parko eyeing his third consecutive Vans Triple Crown title and the boys on the bubble ready to go for broke to secure a spot on next year’s ASP World Tour, this year’s Billabong Pipe Master is shaping up to be a cracker.

Raioni Monteiro Wins at Sunset
Brazilian talent and former ASP Dream Tour surfer Raioni Monteiro, 28, snagged a massive victory at the ASP PRIME O’Neill World Cup of Surfing to shoot the South American to No. 29 on the ASP World Ranking and potentially moving him back on to the elite stage. After a rough flat spell throughout the waiting period, Monteiro battled through the final day of competition to take top honors in an all-star Final including Granger Larsen, Josh Kerr, and Julian Wilson.

Wright Takes Vans Triple Crown Lead
Aussie prodigy Tyler Wright, 16, won her second ASP Women’s World Tour event last week by taking out the O’Neill Women’s World Cup of Surfing as a wildcard by defeating Sunset Beach local Coco Ho, 19, Stephanie Gilmore, 22, and Sally Fitzgibbons, 19, making an impressive statement before launching on to her rookie year on the ASP Women’s World Tour for 2011. Will Wright continue to do damage to the Top 17 next year?

Now that the opening ceremony for the Quiksilver in Memory of Eddie Aikau has been wrapped up, all that the ASP Specialty event needs is a massive swell to send out surfing’s craziest chargers at Waimea Bay. With Southern California athlete Greg Long set to defend his title against some of the world’s finest big-wave watermen the Eddie will be nothing short of epic should the swell deliver!
