Slater’s Road to Victory
Reigning 11-time ASP World Champion Kelly Slater further asserted his dominance on the sport of surfing this year, winning yet another elite ASP World Title. The iconic Floridian has remained at the forefront of progressive surfing for two decades, a feat practically unheard of in any sport. This year was no different, as Slater kicked off his road to the top with victories at Snapper and Trestles while remaining amazingly consistent. The ASP put together a photo-feature to document Slater’s path to No. 11.

Sallas Wins Bear Pro, Jensen Claims ASP WLT
After going on hold for nearly the entire waiting period due to flat conditions, the final stop on the 2011 ASP WLT pulled out all the stops, relocating to the Italian backup site of Andora to run the Bear Pro presented by Jeep in two days. Hawaiian talent Kai Sallas took out the first ever ASP Italian event while American Taylor Jensen took out his first ASP World Longboard Title with a runner-up finish at the contest.

2012 ASP World Tour Schedule
ASP International has released its 2012 World Tour schedule, outlining the respective ASP World Title, ASP World Junior, ASP World Longboard, ASP Masters, ASP Prime and ASP Star tours for the year ahead. While the Rip Curl Pro Search will not run next season, there are some exciting new editions to the ASP World Tour for 2012.
 

Reef Hawaiian Pro
After going on hold for several days, the ASP 6-Star Reef Hawaiian Pro has officially kicked off the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing at Haleiwa. Several North Shore specialists are taking on heaps of the world’s best surfers for the prestigious Hawaiian trifecta title as well as the hearty points on offer towards surfers’ ASP World Ranking. With only three events remaining for the men to solidify their position on the ASP Top 34 for 2012, surfers will be pulling out all the stops in Hawaii to land at the top.

Injury Update: Patrick Gudauskas
Patrick Gudauskas does not hold back. The man is full-throttle every wave – sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn’t. Tahiti, 2010, on the verge of missing the field reduction cutoff, Gudang sticks a huge Rodeo in marginal conditions at Teahupoo to advance past Chris Davidson and into the safety zone. This year at the Rip Curl Pro San Francisco, Pat sticks another phenomenal inverted Gorkin flip in his clash against Jordy Smith but the result was much more painful. ASP caught up with the San Clementian as he was on his way to rehab.

Florence Preps for Vans Triple Crown
John Florence has established himself as arguably the best Pipeline surfer in the world well before the end of his teens. After joining the ASP Top 34 at the midyear rotation, the young Hawaiian Prodigy has proven himself in everything high-performance waves at Lowers to the powerful barrels of Peniche and now that the waiting period for the ASP Specialty Vans Triple Crown has kicked off, ESPN caught up with Florence to get his thoughts on his first few events on the ASP World Tour and where his head was at entering the prestigious events held at his house.
