Vans World Cup of Surfing
The opening round of the ASP PRIME Vans World Cup of Surfing kicked off on Sunday in throttling 10-to-12 foot Sunset Beach and saw some international up-and-comers make impressive showings against a stack of North Shore specialists. With a solid forecast for the event waiting period and the second jewel of the Vans Triple Crown marking the last chance for surfers to qualify for the 2012 ASP World Tour prior to the end-of-year rotation, the entirety of this year’s competition is guaranteed to be spicy!

Burrow Wins Reef Hawaiian Pro
ASP World Tour veteran and overall progressive animal Taj Burrow took out the first jewel of the Vans Triple Crown last week, winning the Reef Hawaiian Pro at Haleiwa on the final day of the waiting period. The West Oz native bested fellow ASP Top 5 standout Adriano de Souza, countryman Adam Melling and Californian Nat Young in the final and will now look to back up his performance at Sunset Beach this week to further his lead for the ASP Specialty Vans Triple Crown title.
