                               	 	 	  	   	    	     	         	       	     Florence Wins Vans World Cup  Young Hawaiian Prodigy and new ASP World Tour member John John Florence continue to assert his dominance among his home breaks on Oahu’s North Shore by taking out the ASP PRIME Vans World Cup of Surfing in absolutely firing Sunset Beach. In addition to the massive victory that vaulted the progressive natural-footer to No. 19 on the men’s ASP World Ranking, Florence also overtook the lead for the 2011 Vans Triple Crown Title entering the Billabong Pipe Masters. FULL REPORT:  	       	     Billabong Pipe Masters  The last stop on the 2011 ASP World Title Series and final jewel on the prestigious Vans Triple Crown, the Billabong Pipe Masters in Memory of Andy Irons will begin its waiting period on December 8. With a massive swell expected to detonate the North Shore on the event’s opening day, the final ASP event of the year is expected to end in dramatic fashion at one of the world’s most iconic barrels. WATCH IT LIVE:  	       	     Quiksilver Eddie Aikau  The waiting period for the Quiksilver in Memory of Eddie Aikau began on December 1 and the prestigious big wave event is open until February 29th, 2012 in hopes of running at Waimea Bay. While ‘The Eddie’ nearly ran last year, Californian charger Greg Long was the last surfer to win the contest, clinching the title in 2009. While a swell worthy of running the Quiksilver in Memory of Eddie Aikau historically only happens once every four years, the Pacific could surely change history by dishing up a monster swell during the 2011 – 2012 Eddie waiting period. CHECK BEDE’S BLOG:  	       	     Injury Update: Miguel Pupo  Miguel Pupo has been building momentum on his rookie year on the ASP World Tour. The high-flying Brazilian launched his way to victory at the ASP PRIME O’Neill Cold Water Classic before taking a 9th place finish at the Rip Curl Pro Search and unfortunately Pupo suffered a setback yesterday while surfing Pipeline. The goofy-footer punted an air and an awkward landing damaged his left knee, forcing him to withdraw from the ASP PRIME Vans World Cup of Surfing. The ASP checked in with Pupo to get the details on the injury as well as his status for the Billabong Pipe Masters.
