 The highly anticipated return of Tavarua to the ASP World Championship Tour calendar has finally returned after a five year break, providing a highly-desired lefthander for the world’s best to showcase their talents! The waiting period for the inaugural 2012 Volcom Fiji Pro will run from June 3 through 15, 2012 and with a heated ASP World Title race building as the season unfolds, stop No. 4 of 10 on the ASP WCT will be action packed.

Wilko Wins in Saquarema  ASP WCT surfer Matt Wilkinson has taken out the Quiksilver Saquarema Prime presented by Coca Cola, topping fellow countryman and defending event champ Kai Otton in an amazing Final performance where ‘Wilko’ dropped the event’s highest heat total. Itauna Beach delivered for this year’s Quiksilver Saquarema Prime, with one flawless day of crisp lefthanders after another igniting Saquarema for the entirety of the event which offered the perfect canvas for some outstanding performances.

Swatch Girls Pro France  While the men’s tour has been going full throttle with the Saquarema Prime and the upcoming Volcom Fiji Pro, it’s time for the ladies to launch back to action. After a brief respite from competition following the Billabong Rio Women’s Pro, several of the ASP Top 17 will converge with talented tour hopefuls for the ASP 6-Star Swatch Girls Pro France in Capbreton from May 30 through June 3, 2012. With a promising forecast for the event, look for the ladies to go for broke this week!

INTERVIEW: Joel Parkinson  Joel Parkinson is the man of the moment. Current ASP World No. 1 after the opening events of the year. However, this is familiar territory for the four-time ASP World Runner-Up. He knows what it is to lead and he knows what it is to relinquish that lead. Believed by many to be the most stylish surfer on the planet, Parkinson smashed his way onto the world stage by winning the Billabong Pro Jeffreys Bay in 1999 at 18 years young as a wildcard. Since then, Parko has been rightly considered a contender for the ASP World Title…but it hasn’t happened yet. Wary of overconfidence so early in the season, Joel still managed to drop some insights for Stab Magazine.

Coleborn Granted Wildcard for Volcom Pro  Mitch Coleborn has been chosen as one of two event wildcards to join the ASP Top 34 at Cloudbreak and Restaurants for this year’s Volcom Fiji Pro. Coleborn, a powerful goofy footer from the Sunshine Coast, has been in the limelight of surf media for several years, but only recently has stoked a fire within to qualify and compete on the elite ASP World Championship Tour. It’s time to see Mitch battle the pack of new and veteran ASP Top 34 surfers he is constantly compared to. This will be Coleborn’s debut ASP WCT showing, and he is psyched and ready.
