Slater Wins Volcom Fiji Pro
Reigning 11-time ASP World Champion Kelly Slater took out the Volcom Fiji Pro over Gabriel Medina after the Floridian icon put on one dominant performance after another on the final day of competition. While Slater slid down the rankings due to his absence from Rio, his 49th elite ASP WCT victory claimed at the Volcom Fiji Pro launched him back to No. 2, putting him well within reach of a 12th ASP World Title.

Josh Kerr battled hard at the Volcom Fiji Pro despite suffering a sprained ankle in his Round 1 affair and the rugged natural-footer fought through the pain to take an important Round 2 win. While Kerrzy has strung together a breakthrough competitive season, the progressive talent hasn’t slowed down on his free surfing endeavors either. Maui and Sons Go to Arica
Remember a Chilean slab of death that graced the ASP WCT roster as a Rip Curl Pro Search event a few years back? Well, Maui and Sons have put the event on the ASP map for 2012 as an ASP 3-Star contest, the Maui and Sons Arica World Star Tour, which will run from June 12 through 17, 2012. The South American event will give up-and-comers the perfect opportunity to build their ASP World Ranking while big-wave hellmen will surely show up to get their piece of the South American slab. Tune in this week to watch the action!

INTERVIEW: Kirby Wright
The Wright family name is synonymous with professional surfing. The brother sister duo of Owen and Tyler have proven to be a dominant force on the ASP WCT, but the depth of talent in the Wright clan goes much deeper than just Owen and Tyler. Sister Kirby Wright has proven to be a standout on the ASP ranks as well and has made a resurgence to competition after a much needed hiatus. Kirby’s now setting her sights on joining her siblings in the big leagues and the ASP caught up with the natural-footer to see what her plans are.
