On Holiday with Owen Wright
With a change in scheduling for the 2012 ASP WCT season, the world’s best surfers have a two month break between the Volcom Fiji Pro and the Billabong Pro Tahiti. So, what is one to do with so much free time? ASP Top 10 surfer Owen Wright decided to go see some sights in the States and surf his face off in Bali before he gets back to work at the upcoming Nike US Open of Surfing. Australia’s Surfing Life (ASL) Magazine caught up with the lanky goofy footer to see how he’s been enjoying himself.

Movistar Pro in Peru
The ASP 6-Star Movistar Pro presented by Rip Curl is ready for launch at Lobitos in Piura, Peru this week with a waiting period from July 24 through 28. With only one event remaining on the women’s ASP WCT, the Movistar Pro presented by Rip Curl could prove to be a pivotal event for ladies looking to secure their spot on the ASP Top 17 next season. With national icon Sofia Mulanovich and fellow tour talents including Sage Erickson and Pauline Ado in the draw, there will be plenty of action for the ladies in South America.

Hendrickson Wins in Mexico
Maui up-and-comer Tanner Hendrickson has taken out his first major ASP win, clinching the ASP 4-Star Quiksilver Surf Open Acapulco at the punchy beachbreak of Playa Revolcadero over Australian Leigh Sedley. The inaugural Quiksilver Surf Open Acapulco showcased an array of international talent with several Latin American standouts putting on banner performances against several established competitors.

Road to Recovery with Evan Geiselman
Evan Geiselman suffered an unfortunate injury just a few months ago while on a trip with his Hurley teammates in Costa Rica. The Floridian turned San Clemente transplant launched a backside air-reverse and an awkward landing would see Geiselman sidelined for several months compliments of a broken fibula, forcing him to withdraw from several major events on the ASP schedule. Geiselman returned to the water just in time for the Nike US Open and the ASP caught up with him for an interview to see how he’s feeling and what’s on his mind entering the upcoming event.

Billabong Pro Tahara
ASP Japan is about to kick off one of their major events this season with the ASP 4-Star Billabong Pro Tahara running from July 25 through 29, 2012 in the beautiful Japanese town of Tahara in Aichi Japan. The event has drawn the nation’s top talent as well as several international surfers from Brazil, Australia, America and Mexico, all in search of the crucial points towards their ASP World Ranking.
