Gilmore Clinches 5th ASP World Title at Roxy Pro
Stephanie Gilmore has taken out the Roxy Pro Biarritz to secure her fifth ASP Women’s World Title in just six years among the ASP Top 17, asserting the young Australian as one of the greatest female athletes of all time. Gilmore has been dominant throughout the 2012 season, taking out three event victories thus far and finishing no worse than fifth to secure the 2012 crown before the US Open of Surfing, the final event on the ASP WCT schedule. Gilmore was in need of a win at the Roxy Pro Biarritz to secure her fifth crown and rose to the occasion, topping Tyler Wright in the Final.

De Souza Wins Billabong Pro J Bay
ASP WCT standout Adriano de Souza has won the ASP 6-Star Billabong Pro J Bay after a week of immaculate eight foot waves provided a perfect platform for the makings of a historic event. Supertubes’ flawless surf saw several 10-point rides from an array of international standouts, but De Souza came out on top after posting several excellent heat totals, eliminating Frenchman Joan Duru in the Final.
 


 

INJURY UPDATE: Kolohe Andino
Kolohe Andino has been going through the ups and downs that come along with being a rookie on the ASP WCT. After a dominant qualification campaign in 2011 that included two 4-Star and three 6-Star wins, the young San Clemente surfer convincingly earned his spot among the ASP Top 34. With a break in the schedule between Fiji and Tahiti, Andino was spending some time at home and suffered an unfortunate ankle injury that has put him out of the water for several months. The ASP recently caught up with Andino to get his full breakdown on what happened.

Boukhiam and Buitendag Win Sooruz Royan Atlantique Pro Junior
Moroccan up-and-comer Ramzi Boukhiam and South African standout Bianca Buitendag have won the inaugural Royan Atlantique Pro Junior after taking on tricky three-to-four foot waves at Cote Sauvage in Royan, France. The win marks the first of Boukhiam’s career and the third consecutive victory for the Buitendag, who has been absolutely dominant on the ASP Europe Pro Junior Series this season.
