Wilson Inks Deal with Nike 6.0
While industry rumors have ran riot since last December, today it became official: 2011 ASP World Tour Rookie Julian Wilson has signed with Nike 6.0. The prodigious natural-footer from Australia’s Sunshine Coast is already an international heavy-hitter with several successful forays into the ASP World Tour as a wildcard, a profile biopic “Scratching the Surface” and his last-minute Hawaiian heroics to claim a spot onto the 2011 ASP World Tour.

Gilmore Signs with Quiksilver for Girls
Reigning four-time ASP Women’s World Champion Stephanie Gilmore (AUS), 22, has just made one of the biggest sponsorship moves in women’s surfing history, leaving longtime sponsor Rip Curl to sign a five-year deal with Quiksilver for Girls. The Australian champ will not only be rocking Quiksilver for Girls’ threads next season, but will also serve as a brand ambassador alongside several other female talents that include artists, musicians and designers.

Josh Kerr; Third Time’s a Charm by Transworld SURF
Gold Coast talent Josh Kerr (AUS), 27, is without question one of the most progressive surfing minds on the planet. As adept above the lip as he is in throttling tubes, Kerr is gearing up to unleash his advanced skill-set on the elite ranks of the ASP World Tour for a third time. Now that’s he’s currently calling Carlsbad, California home base, local publication Transworld SURF caught up with Kerrzy to catch up on his previous years on the ASP World Tour and what he’s expecting in 2011.

Wright Extends with Rip Curl
International surfing and board sports company Rip Curl is proud to ring in the New Year with the announcement that record-setting 16-year-old surfing talent Tyler Wright (AUS), 16, has signed a five-year sponsorship extension on her current Rip Curl International Team Rider contract. With two elite ASP Women’s World Tour victories under her belt before engaging in her rookie year on the elite stage, it’s safe to say that Wright has a bright future ahead of her.

Jessi Miley-Dyer Road to Recovery by SURFER Mag
Bronte’s Jessi Miley-Dyer (AUS), 24, had a rocky road in 2010, suffering a torn ACL that sidelined the fiery goofy-footer for a chunk of last year’s ASP Women’s World Tour season. After a dedicated road to recovery, Miley-Dyer was back in fighting shape for the O’Neill Women’s World Cup, but was unable to solidify her position to requalify for next season’s Top 17. Fortunately, Miley-Dyer was awarded the wildcard slot for the 2011 ASP Women’s World Tour, giving her a chance at redemption now that she’s fully recovered. SURFER Magazine recently caught up with JMD to hear more about the injury and her wildcard application process.
