Slater Takes Hurley Pro
Kelly Slater won his fifth Hurley Pro at Trestles Title, topping Owen Wright in a historic final at Lowers that saw the iconic Floridian and the young Australian face off in their third consecutive elite ASP Dream Tour Final to add fuel to the fire on the hot ASP World Title Race unfolding this season. The Hurley Pro at Trestles Final came down to the wire, with Slater getting the best of a last-second exchange to overtake Wright for the victory, marking the current ASP World No. 1’s 48th ASP World Tour win!

Billabong Azores Islands Pro
While there’s a short break in between ASP World Tour events, several of the world’s best surfers have already traveled from California to Europe to compete in the ASP PRIME Billabong Azores Islands Pro, marking the first ASP PRIME rated event following the midyear rotation on the Top 34. In addition to the men’s event, a women’s 6-Star is running in conjunction with the contest and marks a vital point for the women trying to qualify for the ASP Top 17 for 2012. World Junior Tour Time!
The time has come for a heap of the world’s most promising up-and-coming surfers to convene in Bali for the first of three stops on the men’s and women’s ASP World Junior Tour. The new three-event series will host the under-21 crop of talent in Bali, Brazil and Australia for the first time while the next generation battles for the prestigious title on the ASP World Junior. The first stop, the Oakley World Pro Junior, will begin on October 3, 2011.

Medina Re-Signs with Rip Curl
Gabriel Medina has turned heads in the surfing world over the last two years as an absolutely dominant force on the international stage of ASP PRIME and 6-Star events. Medina’s valiant effort has earned him the right to compete among surfing’s finest despite his young age and last week saw the young Brazilian put on an impressive opening performance at the Hurley Pro at Trestles. Medina’s future continues to look bright and the high-flying goofy-footer just locked down a new multi-year contract with his main sponsor, Rip Curl.
