De Souza Wins Rip Curl Pro
Brazilian workhorse Adriano de Souza took out his second elite ASP World Title event of the season last week, defeating reigning 10-time ASP World Champion Kelly Slater to win the Rip Curl Pro Portugal. After a week of absolutely flawless surf lit up the Portuguese beach-break of Supertubos in Peniche, the world’s best surfers put on one amazing performance after the next to make the Rip Curl Pro one of the most memorable events in ASP history.

Arnette World Junior
The second stop on the 2011 ASP World Junior Tour kicked off on the opening day of the waiting period at the wedgy lefthander of Arpoador in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The Arnette World Junior is set to host a heap of the finest under-21 surfing talent and the youngsters will not only battle for the prestigious title of ASP World Junior Champion but will also be hunting down a highly-sought after seed into the major ASP PRIME and Star rated events.

O’Neill Cold Water Classic
It’s PRIME TIME! The 2011 ASP PRIME O’Neill Cold Water Classic California is set to unfold at the iconic righthand pointbreak of Steamer Lane in Santa Cruz and with about half of the ASP World Tour in the draw and the finest talent knocking on the door of qualification to join the elite ranks for 2012, the mesh of talent at this year’s O’Neill CWC is top notch. The contest unfolds from October 26 through 31, so tune in to the action online!

Swatch Girls Pro China
In addition to all of the major ASP events unfolding this week, the second and final stop on the 2011 ASP Women’s World Longboard Tour is set to unfold at the beautiful location of Wanning on Hainan Island in China. The Swatch Girls Pro China will see the finest women’s longboard competitors from around the globe battle it out for the elite ASP Women’s World Longboard Title from October 26 through 30, 2011.

Andino Goes Back-to-Back!
Young California prodigy Kolohe Andino continued his streak of dominance in Brazil, taking out back-to-back ASP 6-Star event wins. After winning the SuperSurf Internacional in Sao Paulo, the innovative natural-footer charged his way to victory at the Quiksilver Brasil Open of Surfing at the lefthander of Arpoador in Rio. Andino’s stunning streak launches him to No. 28 on the men’s ASP World Ranking, putting him in excellent position to qualify for the ASP World Tour for 2012!
